Designing or fitting a new kitchen can seem like a daunting, and expensive job! But it doesn’t have to be. If you want to spruce up your kitchen and change the look and feel without spending lots of money, then here are 5 ways you can change it up! Whether you have lived in your house for years and fancy a change, or have moved into a new place you want to make your own, these 5 ideas might help spark some creativity!
#1 Add a splash of colour
There are many different ways to add a splash of colour to your kitchen, and the fun thing is, you can get creative with it! Why not try to paint a feature wall, add some coloured tiles or even some coloured stools to your kitchen! Or, if you don’t like that idea, how about some coloured utensils and paintings for the wall?
#2 Add some texture
One way you can add in more texture to your kitchen is by replacing your worktop with marble, earthstone or granite worktops. With the textured, natural appeal of the stone, this simple change can transform the way your kitchen looks and feels. They’ve also been known to add more value to your property as well as make it more attractive.
#3 Wall hangings
Adding some things to your walls, other than paintings can be a unique way to spruce up your kitchen, change the look as well as the added benefit of creating more storage space! It is becoming popular to hang pots and pans from a wall or shelf. If you don’t fancy this, why not hang some plates or even some floating shelves instead?
#4 Hanging lights
Another popular change people are making to their kitchen, is moving away from standard lights to adding lights that hang low from the ceiling. These are usually very pretty, with either a slick shade (think white or chrome) or covered in jewels. It’s a great way to make a statement without having to change too much.
#5 Open frame cupboards
Show off what you’ve got by taking the doors off your cupboards, or replacing them with glass doors. With a quick tidy up of the inside of your cupboards, this can be a great way to change the feel of your kitchen by creating the illusion of more space, at the same time as changing how it looks.
Try and think outside the box – take a look on Pinterest and Home Decor sites to gain inspiration, and see how you can turn it into your own DIY project. And remember, have fun!
